Real Madrid’s director of football Miguel Pardeza believes that the Portuguese skipper is ‘unique and immense’…
Ronaldo faced fair amount of criticism after failing to make an impact against Barcelona last Saturday. However, Miguel Pardeza still speaks highly of the Real Madrid star.
To dismay of the Real Madrid faithful, Barcelona were able to assert their strength over Los Blancos once again. Hence, the Catalans emerged victorious as the first La Liga El Clasico came to an end.
The final score of the match was 1-3 in favour of Barcelona, and defeat by a two-goal margin is regarded as significant disappointment at Santiago Bernabeu.
Since El Clasico is always a highly anticipated fixture, Ronaldo’s performance has been widely criticised.
However, Madrid’s director of football has argued that he has no doubt in the abilities of the Portuguese skipper. He insisted that Ronaldo is still one of the best players in the world.
While addressing the press, Pardeza was quoted as saying:
“Cristiano [Ronaldo] is immense, a fine player. He is different from other players because he never refuses the ball and he is everywhere [on the pitch], in any circumstance."
The 46-year-old insisted that despite losing out to their arch rivals, Jose Mourinho’s men will recover.
He believes that Real Madrid can still bounce back to claim the Spanish La Liga title. Miguel Pardeza also expects the Whites to return to winning ways in the Spanish Primera when they meet Sevilla over the weekend.
"Same as any defeat. The history of this club includes so many titles and trip-ups. [We just need] three important points [against Sevilla] to stay ahead in all competitions."
Miguel Pardeza emphasized that there is still a long way to go in the season, adding that the loss against Barcelona is not the title decider. He insisted that Los Blancos will gain back the spectacular form that they had in the season so far.
Real Madrid recently emerged as 2-0 winners over Copa Del Rey opponents, Ponferradina. Now they have to face a tricky task in the shape of Sevilla. Barcelona are currently even on number of points with Real Madrid but the Catalans top the table with a better
goal difference.
