Miguel Tabuena maintains lead in Asian Games golf
Miguel Tabuena of the Philippines remained at the top of the leaderboard after two rounds of play in the 2010 Asian Games golf competition on Thursday.
The 16-year-old fired a 4-under-par 68 at the Dragon Lake Golf Club for a two-day aggregate of 8-under-136.
Tabuena is a stroke ahead of South Korea's Kim Meen-whee, who also made a 68 for the day. The Filipino sank six birdies against two bogeys. He birdied at the fourth and sixth holes and made four more in
the 11th, 13th, 14th and 17th.
Kim made five birdies to make up for a bogey on the 10th hole.
Rashid Khan of India and Lee Jae-hyeok of South Korea are tied in third spot with 139s. Khan made a 68 while Lee tallied a 70.
Hong Kong's Hak Shun Yat shot the day's best score of 67 to tie Chinese Taipei's Hung Chien Yao (70) with a 141 aggregate.
Satoshi Kodaira of Japan is alone in seventh place with a 68 for a 142. He is a stroke ahead of Sri Lanka's Mithun Kaluthanthrige, who carded a 74.
Meanwhile, South Korea kept its lead in the men's team event.
Kim MW, Lee JH and Lee Kyoung-hoon combined for a 208 output in the second round for a 14-under-418. They are way ahead of the Philippines, which carded a 217 for a 435. The Filipinos are just a stroke
ahead of India, which sizzled with a 209. Thailand and Japan are tied in fourth spot with 441s.
In the women's individual event, Kim Hyun-soo of South Korea became the new leader after carding a 70 for a 140. She is four strokes ahead of Round 1 leader Yan Jing of China, who struggled with a 75.
Kim HS actually started out slow, settling for bogeys on the first and third holes. But she made up for it by making five birdies. Kim made another bogey in the 16th hole as she tallied the day's best
score.
South Korean Han Jung-eun and Japan's Mamiko Higa are tied in third spot with 145s. Han shot a 71 while Higa carded a 74.
Tied in fifth spot at 146 are South Korean Kim Ji-hee and Taiwanese Yao Hsuan-yu, who both shot 71s.
In the women's team competition, South Korea overtook China in the leaderboard. The South Koreans shot a 141 to improve to a 285 aggregate. They are five strokes ahead of the Chinese, who faltered with
a 148.
