Miikka Karkaus–Kalle Koljonen earn Men’s Doubles title at Finnish International Junior Championships
Finland’s talented players Miikka Karkaus and Kalle Koljonen showed their elevated craft in front of their home fans and grabbed Men’s Doubles title at the FORZA Finnish International Junior Championships 2012 at Vantaa, Finland, on Sunday, November 25.
In the final encounter, the in-form Karkaus and Koljonen displayed an incredible performance as they easily thrashed Poland’s Kamil Jedrys and Dominik Zietek by consuming just 21 minutes in the arena.
Karkaus and Koljonen, who were top seeded shuttlers in Men’s Doubles draw in the tournament, played with incredible speed and precision which helped them to wind up the final battle in straight sets with a dominating score on the board.
In the meanwhile, the second seeded Jedrys and Zietek were completely unable to respond in a positive manner to the attacking play of their local challengers and bowed down to them without proving their brilliance in the arena.
The impressive speed and powerful strokes of Karkaus and Koljonen helped him to take control of the pace right from the starting points of first set.
Karkaus and Koljonen showed that they are at the top of their form as they did not take much time in taking control of rallies and set up an early lead without showing any mercy to their Polish challengers.
The top seeded Finnish shuttlers did not slow down the pace of rallies at any stage in the first half and clinched a spectacular lead on score board without facing any trouble.
After the one-minute interval, the aggressive Karkaus and Koljonen stayed focused in the arena and played positive badminton to maintain their upper hand.
Finnish players did not face any considerable opposition from their Polish rivals and they easily bagged the opening set by a superb margin of 21-11.
In the following set, the lower ranked Jedrys and Zietek tried their best to put up strong show but they failed to create pressure on their Finnish challenger and remained struggling until the end of opening half.
After the one-minute break, Karkaus and Koljonen played flawless badminton as they controlled the pace of rallies and remained successful in winning the set by a decent 21-17 score on the board.
The impressive Finnish players emerged as title winners as they ended the final match in a dominating fashion with a striking margin of 21-11 and 21-17.
