Mika Miyazato can be among star performers in 2013
Japanese Mika Miyazato appears to have the tools for ruling the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) as her better-than-expected performance in recent tournaments also speaks for itself.
Mika’s best performance in the 2012 was winning her first LPGA tournament. The Japanese star grabbed a two-stroke victory at the Safeway Classic, outplaying her nearest rivals Brittany Lincicome
of United States and South Korean Inbee Park.
The victory was unexpected for many because the field featured most of the top-ranked LPGA contenders, making the tournament tougher for underdogs.
Although the 23-year-old was not among underperformers before the start of three-day tournament, beating stars like Stacy Lewis and Paula Creamer was something her fans did not think of.
When the Japanese golfer set foot on the course of Pumpkin Ridge G.C, Mika was aware of the threat of unpredictable weather and tricky greens. But her performance remained strong throughout
the three days and she played balanced shots on fairways.
Mika had spoken to the media and shared how she had improved her game. She said that she was not among the possible star performers at the start of the tournament, but she held her nerve and
pulled through.
Mika pointed out that her game had been poor when she had completed her 2011 season, but she soon overcame it. The LPGA titan has been working hard on her short game, and she has seen some
amazing results lately.
“My golf game is getting better. Like my short game. At the beginning of the season, my short game was no good. So I got more practice in the short game and more confidence now so I can
do it. So I believe in myself,” Mika while speaking at the end of Safeway Classic.
The Ricoh Women’s British Open 2012 saw the young gun unveil her best short game on the course. She registered an overall score of 290 to take the fourth position on the leaderboard.
Before displaying her fine form in England, Mika had pulled a similar stunt at the Kingsmill Championship 2012. She carded a total score of 272 to take the share of seventh position on the
leaderboard.
She got off to a fiery start as she posted a 66.
