Mika Miyazato ready to battle rivals in Japan
Mika Miyazato is one of the contenders from Japan who are likely to grab the headlines at the upcoming Mizuno Classic 2012.
Miyazato, despite having vast experience on Japanese courses, still has not been able to amaze fans at the Mizuno Classic, but the impending battle set to start this Friday in Japan can reverse
the past trend for the young gun.
The course will be the same as the last year, with observers having said that the prestigious Kintetsu Kashikojima Country Club is likely to see a major breakthrough this year.
American and European contenders may be her big foes, but Miyazato will have to keep a wary eye on local stars as well, as the lineup will be graced by names like defending champion Momoko
Ueda, Miki Saiki and Kumiko Kaneda.
Despite having failed to win every single chance to grab victory at the Mizuno Classic in her career so far, Miyazato still strikes many as the kind of player capable of winning any event.
She won the Safeway Classic 2012 in August—something sure to motivate her when she comes face-to-face against rivals in Japan.
With plenty of tournaments having been staged in the United States and Europe in the current season, LPGA Tour’s visit to Asia is being regarded as a good opportunity for local players to
build their image and reputation.
This is what Miyazato is going to do when she sets foot on the course this Friday. “We play a lot of tournaments in the U.S. So it’s always exciting coming back to play in my home country,”
she said while speaking to the LPGA Tour during her pre-tournament interview on Wednesday.
Miyazato said that she is confident about her skills and has been working hard on her putting and swing. She said that playing on home soil has always been a great experience for her.
“I’m always excited about this tournament because this tournament is held in Japan”.
She went on to say that the course is pretty amazing, as it features plenty of tricky holes. However, she was keen to point out that the greens suit her playing style.
“Every hole, the greens are very big. The speed is very fast. The greens are so much different than others”.
