Mike Brown and Scoot Brooks lash out at the Twitter threats to Steve Blake – NBA Update
The Los Angeles Lakers fans just like their team are as passionate as they come in NBA. They simply cannot handle the defeat and are perhaps the worst crowd when it comes to supporting their stars in troubled times. However, there
are some who cross the line with their antics.
Los Angeles Lakers guard Steve Blake experienced one such situation recently. The point guard missed a game winning three-pointer, in the dying moments of game 2 against Oklahoma City Thunder and after the game, he and his wife
received threatening emails on Twitter.
In this coward act the perpetrator didn’t even spare Blake’s wife and children. Steve shared one gruesome post that said.
“I hope your family gets murdered,”
Steve was disappointed at the death threats when asked about it in Wednesday’s practice and Lakers Coach Mike Brown has also lashed out at the incident.
“We understand the passion and the love that people have for this team, and I respect that,” Brown said. “I respect you guys saying what you want to say about me and Steve, and beating us up; that’s you guys’ job, and you respect
people saying that stuff. But … everybody has family. You don’t want to touch that. That’s the only thing, and it gets me emotional right now. Attack your family. Frickin’ kids, man? That’s … no. I don’t like that.”
Even the OKC coach Scott Brook couldn’t comprehend the nature of such threats.
“It doesn’t make sense,” he said. “It is a game, and it is an important game for both teams. But it’s not that important.”
Blake has picked up his game in the playoffs and with Ramon Sessions struggling to find his groove, he has made the starting point guard position at the Lakers his own. He was very much a critical cog of the crucial game-7 win
over the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs. Blake scored 19 points in that game including five three pointers.
In the game-2, he was required to make yet another crunch time three, but the ball bounced off the rim and the Lakers lost.
