Mike Brown preaching his philosophy of defence to the Los Angeles Lakers: NBA Update

The newly appointed head coach of Los Angeles Lakers Mike Brown has started to preach the Lakers the true philosophy of defence. He stated his views in a press conference,
“I gotta preach it, I gotta talk it, I gotta teach it. I’ll define the culture, the roles and hold people accountable. Part of the culture will be one of trust, communication, defense, a no excuses mentality, a family environment
and a determined work ethic.”
At the press meet, the Lakers’ General Manager Mitch Kupchak officially announced the signing of contract with Brown,
“We're very pleased to welcome Mike Brown to the Lakers, What Mike brings to the table is unique in that he's a proven winner in this league and yet also a rising star in his profession.”
The former Cleveland Cavaliers’ coach has come to Los Angeles to replace former Lakers’ coach Phil Jackson. Brown signed this four year contract worth $18.25 million and is the 22nd head coach of the Lakers. His arrival
in the Los Angeles and becoming the Lakers’ coach it-self is a very huge responsibility on his shoulders and the tone in which he described the aggressiveness towards the defence was pretty loud and clear.
Mike Brown also mentioned his great satisfaction in that particular press conference and regarded the choice of the Lakers’ top management. Brown said, when he received the offer from the Lakers, he was certainly very happy as
he always admired the mighty Los Angeles Lakers and the success they have achieved so far.
Since Brown has joined the Lakers, he already engaged himself with many Lakers’ players and especially with superstar Kobe Bryant. He mentioned as he in constant contact with Kobe. Both have talked on phone and discussed several
things. Brown explained further as they both have discussed about the philosophy and family. In true sense, Brown’s philosophy demonstrated the Lakers’ defence and how they will be playing under his coaching.
However, there are other things also which indicates Brown’s intentions as how he wants to achieve his targets with his new team. Brown expressed his previous experience with the Gregg Popovich when he was an assistant coach of
San Antonio Spurs. He said there were two players Tim Duncan and David Robinson in the Spurs’ roster who jelled together and played very well together and proved excellent for the Spurs.
Mike Brown also wants the same combination here with the Lakers. Brown has watched all the playoff games where the Lakers were lacking while he understands the extra pace and more athleticism that needed badly in the Lakers’ roster.
The new blood will make things more competitive in the next season for the Los Angeles Lakers. Mike Brown’s arrival is no doubt a great sign for the Lakers, but the real test of his coaching abilities is still ahead when the Lakers will come onto the court
next season.
