Mike Carbone Qualifies for the Travelers Championship after coming through a playoff
The competition was tough, the spots are filled and the Travelers Championship is all set to go underway. This year’s event features some of the big names who had automatic qualification.
However, not everybody is guaranteed an automatic qualification. Players who are way below in the rankings and in terms of prize money have to play qualifying tournaments in order to qualify for the main event.
Among the qualifiers who have qualified, there is the Mike Carbone, the man from Brewster.
Also accompanying him, Dennis Pines had to come through a tough qualifier in order to take part in the Travelers Championship, held at the TPC River Highlands, in Connecticut.
The Nauset High School Graduate and a former Mass. Golf Association junior played a qualifier in Connecticut in order to grab one of the last few spots available.
Carbone qualified for the PGA Tour spot when he finished third in the qualifying event and shot a 4-under par 68 to grab one of the available spots at this year’s Travelers Championship.
Carbone qualified when he shot a par at the playoff hole, if he had not shot par his name would not have been in the participants list.
He will be tee off at 2:12 pm in the first round and then at 9:02 am next morning for the second round.
It would not be easy for Carbone to do well, as the competition will be tough. If he manages to make the cut after the first two rounds, then it would be a fairly satisfactory result for him.
It is important for Carbone to do well in this tournament, so that he maintains his momentum because he will be defending his Maine Open golf title at a new venue this year in the coming week.
This year Maine Open golf takes place at the Augusta Golf Course, but for now he must maintain his focus on the Travelers Championship, which is starting on Thursday.
Travelers Championship has good prize money as well. If he manages a good outing then there is a chance for him to take home some amount of prize money as well.
