Dwight Dasher suspended for four games

The NCAA has handed middle Tennessee quarterback Dwight Dasher a four game suspension. Dasher borrowed $1,500 from an 80-year-old Oliver Donnell at a veterans admission hospital and has been waiting to hear
the ruling from the NCAA. The college governing body also included that Dasher must repay the funds before he is eligible to play.

Dasher said he was relieved to hear the NCAA’s ruling, stating he knew the decision to take the money was a mistake, but he did so to solve a ‘family problem’. Nevertheless, Dasher will appeal the suspension
in the hopes he can get it knocked down to three games.

Dasher said of his mistake. “I learned like even though it’s hard to say no to your family, I learned sometimes you’ve got to do that. Sometimes you’ve got to be positive and take everything the right way
instead of the wrong way.”

Middle Tennessee maintains that Dasher has already repaid the loan and come the end of his suspension will be available to play. However, the NCAA has questioned whether or not Dasher has in fact returned
the money, as only the final re-payment of $150 was recorded, leaving $1,350 still to pay.

However, university athletic director Chris Massaro says the school has interviewed the o Donnell on two separate occasions with two witnesses and he maintains that Dasher has in fact returned the money.

Mossano believes that the attempt to cut down the suspension in the appeal process will work, stating. “By all documentation this wasn’t like some of the other cases where it’s just an out-and-out payment
and those kinds of things with no necessary desire to repay it. This was clearly a loan from the get –go and so I’m hoping that might be one of the mitigating circumstances.”

If Dasher were to return in four weeks he would enter back into the fray in time for the clubs match-up with Troy.
