Mike Davis throws light on the USGA’s 2012 season
Mike Davis, the U.S. Golf Association Executive Director wrote an open letter to the members to put some light on the news that the association grabbed on and off the course.
The USGA conducts numerous tournaments through the course of a season. Being one of the most lucrative tours, the Professional Golf Association of America has had a major impact on golf.
With so many tournaments that take place on the Tour, there has been a fairly large increase in the number of youngsters showcasing their golfing talents.
The tournaments conducted by the USGA during the course of the year have been spectacular as the highest level of golf was witnessed throughout.
There were many questionable decisions made by the USGA during the season but none more controversial than the ban that was imposed by the association on the belly putter or the long-handled putter.
Many golfers on the Tour use the putter and have been using it for a long time now. With some heated debates that have taken place during the years, it is only now that the decision has been made.
Players who use the belly putter are not happy with the decision because they have adjusted to the putter and it will be difficult to switch to the standard putter.
The ban will be implemented from 2016 onwards and any golfer seen using the putter after that will be penalized, ruining his chances of performing in tournaments.
Some golfers have said that they will take legal action against the decision, whereas some said that the decision made by the USGA is fair to the players who use the standard putter.
After a successful 2012 season, the USGA goes into the next season as it kicks off next week.
The PGA Tour is one of the most competitive tours of golf and top golfers in the world prefer to play on the Tour.
The Ladies Professional Golf Association has shown some excellent talent over the past and with just bright prospects on the Tour, things are destined to get tight on the fairways.
