Mike Dolce: Fight against Anderson Silva will be all about money for GSP – UFC News
Georges St-Pierre recently made his comeback against the then interim titlist Carlos Condit and proved that he still stands as the most elite fighter in the welterweight division. However, that was not just where the story end. Most UFC officials, including
President Dana White, were looking forward for GSP to win so he could head to head against middleweight champion Anderson Silva in a super-fight. Unfortunately, GSP refused to do so until he finds a legitimate reason for it.
In an interview with MMAWeekly.com, Mike Dolce spoke about the potential super-fight, saying the only reason Georges St-Pierre would go against Silva is money. According to Dolce, Johny Hendricks stands as the number one contender in the division and if
GSP wants a true fight to dominate his division then it should be against Hendricks.
“If you want to talk about a money fight, if GSP wants a money fight, he fights Anderson Silva. If it's about the money, he bumps up, he fights Anderson, and he makes the biggest payday in all of mixed martial arts history,” said Dolce to MMAWeekly.com.
“If he's not fishing for that payday and he wants to defend his title, he has to defend his title against Johny Hendricks, who is the clear cut No. 1 contender. It's the end of the story,” he added.
Stories have already emerged regarding GSP demanding a hefty paycheck for the fight but the French-Canadian fighter refutes them. According to GSP, he needs to think about fighting Anderson Silva and find a reason for it.
Hendricks has become a knockout specialist. Following his recent win at UFC 154, Hendricks asserted that he would not fight until he gets a title shot. In other words, he was hinting towards a title shot at welterweight titlist Georges St-Pierre.
For GSP, both opponents are tough. Silva stands as the best mixed martial artist today with no losses in the cage while Hendricks stands as a young promising fighter who knows well how to hurt his opponent.
It is a tough choice for GSP, who knows how to keep his opponents on the ground with his grappling skills.
