Mike Gatting does not feel bad sorry for Team Australia
Former English Test Skipper has expressed little sympathy for the traditional rivals from Australia after they have beaten the dust on home grounds.
The present Ashes series extended the opportunity for the English players to defeat the team Australia in three matches with a margin of an innings or more. The five-match test series culminated in bringing a success for the visitors with 3-1.
This is the first time in twenty four years when England has defeated http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 on its home grounds, and Gatting, who had been a part of the national team until 1994-95 is more than happy over the performance of his boys.
While sharing his views on an international news channel, Gatting said, “I would never say ‘poor old Australians’, let’s remember what’s happened over the last 24 years or so. So don’t ever say ‘Poor old Australians’ to me! They have got a bit of head-scratching
to do, as we have had before. So don’t feel too sorry for them, our guys have done a lot of hard work to get where they are, there are a lot of good people behind the scenes doing a lot of hard work too.”
He further added, “So they’ve got some work to do now as we’ve had to do over the last 10,20 or so years to get ourselves to where we are now. They’ve got the same thing to do. I’m sure they’ll do it because there’s nothing like an Ashes series. The guys
can be very, very proud of what they’ve done.”
Airing somewhat a similar point, the Australian legendary spinner Shane Warne had admitted the fact that the superior team had prevailed in the series. While sharing his opinion on a news channel, he congratulated the team England for displaying better cricket.
He also admired and praised their attitude and self belief, which was vital for fighting such a pressure generating series.
The Australian former bowling wizard was also impressed by the passion and pride the guest team showed. No doubt team Australia was poor, but it was because the rivals did not allow them to play well for consistently having a complete hold onto the game.
He admitted that losing three times with a margin of an innings in a series was a massive defeat. While concluding his remarks, Warne lamented the fact that had his team displayed its full potential in the game, the results could have been much different
from what they were today.
