Mike Hall to attempt the global cycling Guinness World Record early in 2012
Mike Hall will attempt to break the Guinness World Record in February 2012. The cyclist is all geared up to set a new record for the fastest cycling circumnavigation in London next year.
It was believed that Hall will ride at the “Global Bicycle Race” but he has altered his plans by making an individual record attempt.
He mentioned, "I was excited when I first learned of the Global Bicycle Race but after discussions with my sponsors, we have decided that it is best to focus our efforts on my attempt".
The cyclist has not yet confirmed his sponsors for the coming event but it is believed that the announcement will be made in the coming weeks.
He stated that the sponsors have supported him throughout and he is only waiting for the paperwork to be finalised before announcing their names.
Mike also briefed that he is thankful for all the financial support and claimed that he will show full devotion towards the attempt.
He emphasised, “I want to show full commitment to my sponsors who are kindly supporting me with significant financial backing for this endeavour".
Hall will ride for a gruelling and a very long distance of 18,000 miles across the globe alone to achieve the title.
He participated in the Tour Divide race 2011 and also secured the overall victory at two solo races this year.
A total number of 70 riders participated in the Tour Divide, with Kurt Refsnider finishing the 2,745 miles race ahead of everyone else.
Mike is also the Owner and Director of an engineering consultancy company, Velometrics. He is willing to pay for the processing of the Guinness World Record for any one making a successful attempt.
He said, "Some money is ear-marked for fast-track processing in the event I am eligible for the record, but if I'm not, and someone beats me to it; Velometrics is prepared to do that for them too”.
He believes that with the offer from Velometrics paying for the attempt there will be more attempts, which means there will be more chances of the new record being set in 2012.
Hall is preparing hard for the upcoming event and updates his full training schedule on the blog regularly. It is hoped that his determination will pay off by enabling him to set the Guinness World Record.
