The Black Caps had a miserable tour of West Indies earlier in the year, being whitewashed in the Tests as well as in the T20 series and also losing the One Day International (ODI) series by a margin of 1-4.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LRPL-Taylor-c1849 and company lost both the Test matches in India also; however, they did look a much improved side and made things tough for the home team during the encounter.
Hesson, who joined the team after the Caribbean tour, is delighted with the team’s progress and hopes to continue with the good work in future. The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 players are never considered to be great against spin bowling but the 37-year-old believes that
his side improved as the series moved forward.
"It was certainly a challenging start: playing in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760," said Hesson. "But I thought the progress the guys showed in Bangalore in the second
Test certainly showed improvements with the bat especially, in terms of intent and in terms of defensive spells against the spin bowling."
After losing the 5-day format, the Kiwis went on to beat the Men in Blue in the only T20 played on the tour at Chennai, with the first fixture (Visakhapatnam) washed out due to rain. The 1-run victory has boosted the side’s confidence
ahead of the mega event.
"We were frustrated to have the Twenty20 washed out but the character we showed in the second T20 against a good side in Chennai gives the guys a lot of confidence heading into the tournament," the coach added.
The Black Caps are placed in Group D of the World T20, along with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bengal-c771 Tigers at Pallekele on September 21, before taking on Pakistan on 23 at the same venue.
