Hesson landed the spot after the Kenyan cricket officials decided to rearrange the squad, following some disappointing performances of the team in the past few seasons.

The Kenyan officials now rely on Hesson to revive the national side from their recent downslide.
Hesson, who has been in the coaching business since 1996, was found to be the perfect match for the post and was brought on board after a thorough performance review conducted, on the orders of the Chief Executive of Cricket Kenya, Tom Sears.
"Mike has an excellent record of developing players and successful teams, and throughout the selection process demonstrated a real desire and clear vision to take our national team forward," stated Sears.
Sears went on to praise the new coach, citing his technical and communication skills.
Hesson, 36, is regarded as one of the best young coaches; a goodwill, the Kiwi earned through his profound career.
Since 2005, the Kiwi coached the New Zealand A side and the Kiwi Emerging Players. He also served as the specialist batting coach for the national squad. For his recent appointment, Hesson had been instructing the provincial http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Otago-c829 side.
However, Hesson will now be taking over the national Kenyan side and will lead the team into the upcoming Intercontinental Cup against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033; his first task as coach.
