Mike Hesson steps down from Kenya coaching role – Cricket News Update

Hesson was appointed last year in July, and was awarded a two-year contract. He took charge of his responsibilities following the resignation of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Eldine-Ashworth-Elderfield-Baptiste-c55848, who stepped down after the team’s disappointing World Cup campaign last year.
“It is a very difficult decision we as a family have had to make but sadly we have been directly and indirectly affected by a number of security related incidents in recent weeks and my family has to come first," said the Kiwi-born Coach.
The 37-year-old has clarified that his decision does not involve any sort of disagreement with the players or the board, but was based on personal grounds after taking into consideration the safety of his family.
"I want to stress that this has absolutely nothing to do with any issues relating to my role as National coach and is not cricket related in any way. This is purely a decision about the safety of my family and quality of life,“ said Hesson.
He further added that he will continue to serve the Kenyan team for their upcoming assignments before eventually leaving for his homeland. He however, is keen to send his family back.
It is to be noted that Hesson and his family, including his wife and two daughters, have faced security issues in the last few weeks – further forcing him to reconsider his position.
Cricket Kenya chief executive Tom Sears has expressed regret after losing a highly qualified coach, praising Hesson's efforts in lifting the standards of Kenyan cricket, and wishing him a good future.
During the Kiwi’s 10-month stint, the national team however, has achieved mix results. They have played four ODIs, winning just one, while also underperformed during the Intercontinental Cup, losing two of their three matches.
The New Zealander’s last assignment is to guide Kenya during the four-day http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Namibia-c2964 in two ODIs and two unofficial Twenty20 matches, starting next month.
