Veteran http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 and would not let the stifling UAE heat affect their performance, come the opening One Day International in Sharjah, on Tuesday, August 28, 2012.
Pakistan head coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Davenell-Frederick-Whatmore-c52571 had last week said that the Australians were weaker than usual and might struggle in the UAE conditions. But Hussey hit back promptly saying they have an experience of playing in the oppressive conditions in Chennai, where average temperatures may remain around mid-30s but the humidity makes the conditions unbearable.
"We've won in places like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 before," said Hussey while speaking to media persons on the eve of the series opener in Sharjah, on Tuesday.
"The last time we came here we beat Pakistan in a one-day series as well. These conditions are very oppressive. But ... the guys are in pretty good shape,” he added further.
Australian players also have had a pre-series training camp in Darwin, and Hussey hoped that would prove helpful when playing in the UAE. The veteran left-hander further added that the team was desperate to win after facing a 4-0 ODI series whitewash at the hands of traditional rivals, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, which Hussey missed due to family issues.
“We're very determined. The guys have got a real sting in the tail after losing in England and we want to put in a very good performance,” said the 37-year-old middle-order batsman, who played a fine knock of 49 runs against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Afghanistan-c745 over the weekend. "I don't think we'll be letting the heat be an excuse for any poor performance," he insisted.
Meanwhile, the Australian stand-in coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Wade-c1933, who opened up the innings against Afghanistan on Saturday.
The ever-reliable Hussey, who has so far played 73 Tests and 182 One Day Internationals in a glorious career, said that he was ready to open the innings, if needed.
Australia are scheduled to play three ODIs and an equal number of T20 Internationals against Pakistan over the next couple of weeks. To avoid the worst of the UAE heat, the boards have agreed to play all the matches in the night.
