Left-handed batsman, Mike Hussey, is hoping that Cricket Australia (CA) will award the former skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ricardo-Gouveia-c84824 Ponting, and opening batsman, Simon Katich with contracts.
CA is likely to announce the list of the contracted players soon, for the Australian team’s upcoming season.
Hussey, who is famous with the title of Mr. Cricket, said that if Ponting and Katich would not be considered, it would be a massive shock for him.
“I still think we’re playing well enough to be in the top 25 players in the country, as long as the guys have the burning desire to want to be out there in middle,” he said.
“If you start to lose that (fight) then maybe it’s time to look away, but I’ve seen the characters of Kato and Ricky and there’s never any question about that sort of stuff.

“I’d be very surprised if they weren’t offered contracts. They deserve them so I’m sure there will be no worries with that.” He added.
Ponting, who stepped down from the captaincy of the Aussies team, wants to concentrate on his batting in order to prolong his career.
The 36-year-old has represented his country in 362 One Day International (ODI) matches and scored 13406 runs with an average of 42.69. Meanwhile, he has played 152 test matches and made 12363 runs with an average of 53.51.

The 35-yearold Western Australian has played 45 ODIs and 56 test matches for Australia.
Hussey, who is also from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Western-Australia-c865, wants to serve his country for a long time, not showing any intention to say good-bye to cricket.
According to him, he is enjoying every format of cricket but considers Test cricket as the real deal. However, he loves to play ODI and Twenty20 as well.
