Mike Hussey wary of under-fire http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607 - Cricket News Update
Senior http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556 as he fears that the growing calls for his retirement might just fire up the iconic batsman for a better performance in Sunday’s tri-series match between India and Australia.
After Cricket Australia selectors axed veteran batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377 from the one-day squad, there have been growing calls for snubbing Sachin from the limited overs squad.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kapil-Dev-c70234, the World Cup winning captain of India, had recently said that the master blaster should have called a day on his international career after the Men in Blue won the World Cup in April last year.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dean-Mervyn-Jones-c53391, a former Australia batsman, has also urged the BCCI selectors to take a lesson from their Australian counterparts, and show the little batting maestro, the door from the one-day side at least.
Hussey, however, feels the 38-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Maharashtra-c811 batsman is a real threat for them and the Australians cherish his wicket the most.
"He's still a key wicket. Experience says he's done it in the past. He's a great player and his record speaks for itself,” said Hussey speaking to the media reporters ahead of the crucial match against India today.
“Tendulkar is someone you're always desperate to get out cheaply because if you do you know the team is well on the way to limiting http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 to a smaller total and [therefore] winning the match," he added further.
Hussey fears the ongoing criticism might make him more dangerous.
“...if it has [struck a nerve] it makes him probably more dangerous, so [criticism of Tendulkar] is something I don't want to hear," said the 36-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Western-Australia-c865 middle-order batsman.
The ongoing match between India and Australia is equally crucial for both the sides as a victory today will see the hosts reach the final of the tri-series, and a victory for India would help keep their hopes alive of making the next round.
Both sides will play their respective last league matches against current table http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758. India will play their Asian counterparts at Hobart on February 28th while Australia will face the Lankans on March 2 in what will be the last league
