Mike Jones: I want the best Randall Bailey – Boxing News
Mike Jones will be taking on Randall Bailey at the pay-per-view event this Saturday being headlined by Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley. Pacquiao and Bradley had their share of words yesterday at a press conference in Las Vegas, and today it was Randall
Bailey and Mike Jones’ turn to give it out to the fans.
What was exciting about this press conference was the fact that it did not start with the usual phrases. Instead, Mike made it a mark to enlighten fans regarding his decision to fight Randall Bailey. He said, “The reason why I chose eight ounce gloves is
because I want the best Randall Bailey. You say you can hit and knock somebody out, but you’ve gotta catch him and hit him. It takes more than a knockout punch to be a great fighter.”
While Jones was talking, Bailey interrupted saying, “That’s what you’re going to get.” Bailey then added, “We’ve seen Mike Jones and we’re ready for the task at hand. Come Saturday, it’s going to be a war. All that talk about this and that, it’s a done deal.
When the bell rings, ding, it’s on.”
Mike Jones currently stands with 26 wins and 0 losses in his career, whereas veteran Randall Bailey stands with 42 wins, 7 losses and 36 knockouts in his portfolio.
Probably for Mark, taking on Randall Bailey is easy since the latter is already being considered as a burned up fighter. However, this is Randall’s chance to prove his mettle to the naysayers. If he is able to bring the first defeat in Mark’s portfolio,
he will definitely have his legacy cemented, if not in the boxing then at least in Jones’ career.
On the other hand, Jones has to prove that he is capable of taking on experienced and senior fighters, instead of fighting with those who are lower than his calibre. Being on Pacquiao vs. Bradley card, it is an opportunity for both the fighters to give out
an impressive performance to the fans. Who knows, maybe Jones can be the next Mayweather if he cements his legacy this time.
