Mike Jones’ trainer Vaughn Jackson picks Juan Manuel Marquez over Manny Pacquiao – Boxing news
Vaughn Jackson, who is the trainer of the current NABA and WBO NABO Welterweight champion Mike Jones, has picked Juan Manuel Marquez over the eight-division world champion, Manny Pacquiao, as he believes Marquez will box his way to a decision, if the fight
goes the distance.
The Mexican Dinamita, Marquez, who is the current World Boxing Association, World Boxing Organisation and The Ring Lightweight World Champion, will take on the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight World Champion (Super Champion), Manny Pacquiao,
in their much-anticipated trilogy fight on November 12, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and Jackson thinks Marquez is a better all-round fighter.
“Marquez has more skills than PacMan. PacMan jumps off his feet too much. In spite of his age, Marquez is a better all-round fighter who puts his punches together better. Marquez will box his way to a decision if it goes the distance,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the undefeated American prospect, Jones, who carries a perfect record of winning all of his 24 professional fights, with 18 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, reckons the Pacquiao-Marquez concluding fight will not go the distance.
“I think somebody’s going to get knocked out,” Jones claimed.
Marquez and Pacquiao have met two times before and their both fights ended up in a storm of controversy. There first fight which was in May 2004 ended up in a draw and their second meeting which came four years later in March 2008 saw Pacquiao winning via
split decision. However, both pugilists showed great fighting hearts in the ring. Therefore, Jones is confident both fighters will once again provide their fans with an enthralling battle.
“It’s going to be a great war, but somebody’s going to go down and stay down. Both of those guys got bigger, got stronger – obviously Pacquiao got bigger and stronger. I believe it’s going to be a great fight for the fans,” Jones said.
The 38-year-old Marquez has desperately waited three years to avenge his defeat against Pacquiao but let’s see if he really has what it takes to shrug off the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
