Mike Miller, Antawn Jamison- Few trades that could happen once the NBA Lockout ends (Part 2)
Mike Miller:
Mike was amongst the players who every team wanted to acquire during the 2010 summer. Miami got to him first and offered him a five year contract. His start with Miami was neat and he lived up to his reputation of one of the best
three point shooter in NBA.
However his overall performances were not up to the mark. He finished the tournament with an average of 5.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, which for player of his potential is not a very good omen.
Miami has spent a handsome amount on him and understandably so, has not been much impressed with his performance. Still four more years before his contract expires and I have a feeling he has become a liability on Miami.
Trading him would give Miami a budgeting flexibility and they can use it to acquire other emerging players that can serve the team in future as well.
Antawn Jamison:
The 36 year old veteran who last played for Cleveland Cavaliers put quite a decent performance last season. Despite the team’s overall dismal performance, he finished the season with a healthy average of 18 points and 6.7 rebounds.
Antawn’s contract with the team is expiring soon and rumors are that Golden State Warriors who are in rebuilding phase and looking to obtain some financial elasticity might be approaching the veteran.
The move to acquire him will be an interesting and risky one. Cleveland already have a solid core so the question is who will they be giving to Warriors in trade if situation arises. Antawn is not getting any younger and naturally
not as fit as he used to be. What if he becomes a liability on the team?
Courtney lee:
Courtney Lee role in Houston Rockets is not defined yet. In the presence of Kevin Martin, there is absolutely no chance for Courtney to move forward. Many teams that lack the intensity in court would be keeping their eyes on Courtney.
Houston Rockets have already received many inquires relating to Courtney’s availability but the team has not yet given any green signal yet. If Rockets do even consider trading him, they will make sure it is an expensive trade.
The odds of Courtney moving to a team that is weak in the backcourt are very high and I am sure as soon as the lockout ends, discussions of acquiring him will heat up.
Raja Bell :
Raja Bell just moved back to his old team Utah Jazz last year. He was offered a three year contact but soon after acquiring him, Utah immediately put him on the exchange market. Raja is known for his three- point shooting but unfortunately
his last season was not what he would cherish when he retires.
His performance has been on a downhill but he still has it in him. Minnesota Timberwolves who is loaded with a pool of young talent can definitely use the big guy to strengthen their defense.
Minnesota is in the rebuilding phase and addition of Raja to their team can add some experience to the team. Youngsters in the Timberwolves can mature quickly with him in the team.
Jared Dudley:
The 6 ft 7 forward from Phoenix Suns gained the limelight last season when he ended with career high average of 10.6 points per game. He started to show shades of brilliance in 2009-2010 season but couldn’t quite make an impression
then but then returned the very next year to prove his critics wrong.
After his last season’s performance, many teams will be eager to make Jared part of their core but I doubt Phoenix will put him for auction easily. Boston Celtics is amongst the team that can use his services as they are rebuilding
but then they don’t have enough capital with them.
