Mike Miller eyeing a comeback against the Golden State Warriors - NBA Update
Mike Miller, the reserve Miami Heat shooting guard, has not played any competitive basketball since last six months. He underwent a hernia surgery at the start of December which kept him out of the action for two months and therefore
missed Heat’s first seven outings of the shortened season.
However, Miller has recovered now and is looking forward to make a comeback in the Heat’s next game against the Golden State Warriors. He made the declaration just moments after the Heat’s exciting triple overtime win over the
Atlanta Hawks.
"I'm aiming for Golden State, but we'll see," Miller said. "I wanted to tonight, but we're just going to play it safe."
On Wednesday night, Miller was declared “fit to play” by the doctor who carried out his surgery.
"My whole thing, the question I asked, was if it had a chance to tear again if I got out there and played," Miller said of Wednesday's doctor's visit. "And he said very unlikely. The pain's easy to deal with."
After signing a five years $25 million contract, Miller has so far only managed to play 41 games for Miami first due to a thumb injury he caught during a practice session last season and now due to hernia.
Although he played deep into the post season last time around, the challenge that he faces now is to adapt to the offensive game style of the Heat.
Heat have inarguably one of the best offenses in the league and the pace with which their offense plays, it can be hard for anyone to adjust to it, especially for someone who is making a comeback after a long time.
Miller however is not worried about it and thinks adjusting would not be a problem.
"This is a style I've always wanted to play, never had the opportunity to play," he said. "Especially with explosive guys like this, it should be fun."
It will be interesting to see now when the coach Erik Spoelstra gives Miller his first break this season. Erik has been extra cautious about his injured players in this compressed season and that was the reason, he did not play
LeBron James and Dwyane Wade in tonight’s game.
