Mike Minor lowers his ERA drastically as he puts up tremendous performances in last two months-MLB
As the rest of the starters on the Atlanta Braves’ rotation deliver splendid performances, Mike Minor learns from them and improves sharply. The analysis of his numbers in the last two months and those at the start of the season will reveal immense improvements.
Earlier his command and control was ridiculously poor. That led to hits and a lot of runs were leaked by him resulting in a high ERA.
Traditionally the Braves are not known for their pitchers. Even when they win their hurlers rarely contribute to them.
When Minor was being sent for homers and massive hits, the team as a whole was not declining because their strong offence minimised the impact which he could wreak on the ultimate results of the matches.
However the team officials were trying their best to add quality arms on the rotation in order to fix all the potential loop-holes.
Minor was not alone in keeping the notion of the Braves’ mediocrity when it comes to pitching alive. Jair Jurrjens, Randall Delgado and few other names were also responsible for yielding sufficient number of runs from the start and making it harder for the
relievers to win games for the team.
As the second half of the season began, Atlanta’s rotation took on an altogether different shape.
With Tim Hudson back from injury, their starters suddenly became consistent in putting up better performances. In the process Minor also became regular in winning matches.
On Wednesday against the Colorado Rockies, he was just impeccable. By keeping the hitters guessing, he struck them out and provided little room for connecting hits.
"Kind of just dodged them, I guess," Minor said. "To me it wasn't one of my best starts, but like you said, on paper it looks good. I just got lucky enough. They had a couple of guys on and I got out of it again. My walks didn't hurt me this time. I didn't
give up a home run. That's always good. I just kind of dodged them."
In light of the fact that season has entered into a crucial phase, the Braves will be pleased as most of their starters are winning on a regular basis now.
They will be looking forward to witness Minor throwing quality innings in the important upcoming games.
