Mike Napoli might sign with Boston Red Sox – MLB Update
Speculations are mounting in the media that free agent Mike Napoli might sign with the Boston Red Sox. He was signed back in December 03 by the Red Sox but later his hip injury created some issues as he did not pass physical and becomes free agent again.
“That is still being worked on, As Ben has mentioned, there are no updates in terms of where that situation exists. We’re hopeful he is in a Red Sox uniform, but there are still things to work through,” manager John Farrell said during an appearance on 98.5
The Sports Hub.
He added with more detail and explained in the media, “The thing that has not changed is Mike Napoli is a clear-cut target for us. We’re not turning the page on this situation as of today, and that’s not to allude that at some point in the future we’re going
to. But our goal, and Ben’s goal, is to get something worked out and a deal in place.”
Napoli last played for the Texas Rangers and played quite confidently. He finished with good batting numbers of .227 hitting average along with 24 home runs, 56 RBIs and .343 OBP.
Overall his career hitting average of .259 along with 146 home runs, 380 RBIs and .356 OBP also makes him a good role player in the league. He has been playing well since his arrival in the league.
Started his career in 2006 from Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim platform and later went into Texas Rangers franchise. As soon as he joined the Texas Rangers, his performance increased with a blistering pace.
Boston Red Sox currently has Jarrod Saltalamacchia as full time catcher, but with arrival of Napoli, their chances will increase to qualify into the post season. Saltalamacchia played consistently in the last Major League Baseball season. He achieved good
numbers and went hitting at .222 along with 25 home runs, 59 RBIs and .288 OBP.
Not only in the last season but Saltalamacchia’s career stats are also persistent at .239 hitting average along with 64 home runs, 210 RBIs and .302 OBP.
