  1. Yes absolutely. Mike Piazza is undoubtedly (like it's not even a discussion) the best hitting catcher this game has ever seen. Not only that, he is one of the best right handed bats in the history of baseball. He had some of his best seasons on the Mets and he hit that big home run after 9/11. He is a Met icon and his number should definitely be retired.

  2. Lord Sesshomaru -- Your Jaken says SOMEONE should -- Dodgers probably have a claim to it too. He was awesome. Hall of Famer for sure.

  3. yes they should. he turned the mets into a winner once he got there. he was the sole reason to watch the mets.

  4. probably the best hitting catcher of all time, definately.

  5. Retire 31 and 45.

They unfortunately waited too long to retire Tug McGraw's 45; such a great character.  I mean, he coined the team's signature rally cry...YA GOTTA BELIEVE!  Tug McGraw is terribly missed, his passing was a sad day in Mets country (and in baseball).  I guess they'll have to wait until Pedro Martinez is done, but they should retire that #45.

Mike Piazza was the face of this franchise for many years, and provided some of the most memorable moments in Mets history.  He is one of very few Hall-of-Famers who spent the majority of his career as a Met, and should be acknowledged as such.

When they retire 31 and 45, have John Franco at the ceremony as well, because he wore both numbers in his career.  He's another "face of the franchise," with many years of memorable service in a Mets uniform.

  6. They should, but won't since he didn't win a WS

  7. Yea he was good for the mets and he got a .308 carrear average just under 500 homer runs he was an awsome catcher and i could be wrong but dosent he have the most homeruns for a catcher

  8. no the dogers should because thats when he was great

  9. Its a team rule if you dont retire with the Mets your number wont be retired with the mets
