How do you people feel about what Mike Savage said?

If you didn't hear he said that there isn't such thing as autistic kids, they're just brats that don't listen to their mothers. I think this is repulsive and he should be taken off the air.

  1. I think that your passion for throwing freedom of speech in the garbage is repulsive. If you don't like what he said then don't listen to his show (which you probably don't in the first place). It's not hard to change the station or turn the radio off if you are offended, so get off your soap box and stop calling for a man to lose his livelihood, because somebody that you probably hadn't heard beforehand of made a that you didn't like on a show that you have never listened to. He didn't do anything to you, or to kids with Autism for that matter. He made a comment that was shocking, on a show that is listened to by people who want to hear something shocking. People are far too sensitive and feel that they are victims because their feelings get hurt, try living in the Third World for a while and then you can rant about being a victim. I'm glad that Savage has a spine and isn't going to bow down like Imus did. God Bless America!!!!!!!!!

  2. I really get confused about Savage sometimes. One night I heard him so ticked off with how Howard Stern mocks and makes fun of the mentally challenged on his show, but then read earlier yesterday what Michael said with this Autism statement he made.

As Solomon said, "Where there are many words, transgression is unavoidable". I guess if someone just talks and talks and talks for hours....they'll eventually stick their foot in their mouth, eh?

I no longer will waste time tuning in and putting any of these guys on center stage for 3 to 4 hours (liberal or conservative) but only will occasionally tune in, when I'm really bored!

  3. All of you people just don't get it! He didn't say that all kids diagnosed with autism are just brats, just that some of them are and their parents can't handle them so they think something's wrong with them. This guy has a MD in child's psychology, he would know.

  4. Because you don't agree with somebody you want to get him fired? You can find a communist country to live in so that you may get your wish but let me warn you that they kill autistic children and when you disagree with what the state says then they will kill you also. Good bye and good luck

  5. Savage is a douche, but like the guy above me stated, this is a free country, and no one should lose his job for what they say, unless it incites violence.  That said, I think the stations have a right to fire him if it causes the station to lose sponsorship money, but they won't

If you don't like it turn it off, or boycott the sponsers.  But enough with this "fire everyone who says something that bothers ME!!"

  6. If one were to have bothered to listen to his commentary in its entirety they could've logically concluded that Savage was expressing his opinion that there are many kids who have been labeled as having autism, ADD, ADHD, etc... who, sadly, have been misdiagnosed.

Now, - does he have a valid opinion?

I, for one, feel that the field of psychiatry/psychology has manufactured many of these 'diagnoses' for little or no other reason than to remind us that the field is, indeed, legitimate, and not 'quack' science.

    Why would this be done?

Because, quite simply, - it's difficult to get federal grants to study 'brats'. However, when you turn a 'brat' into ' a child with autism', - the money will pour in.

As for taking Savage off the air, that can easily be done by simply boycotting, or just threatening to boycott, the companies who advertise on his show (in the vein of Don Imus). Let us remember, however, that the 1st Amendment of the U.S. Constitution is set up to protect all forms of expression which do not present the probability of a 'clear and present danger', - and that those forms of expression which are most difficult to protect are the ones we each find...

    ... most offensive.

Please pardon the verbosity of this response.

    Thank You...

  7. What??!!

    That is a ridiculous idea...

Autism is not to joke around about.
