Mike Swick vows to nail DaMarques Johnson to shine and remake his career – UFC News
After the absence of two long years, Mike Swick is back, vowing to not only grab win over DaMarques Johnson but also prove he is a fighter who never gives up.
Mike, while sharing his excitement, stated, “The world is going to see. This is my opportunity and my chance to shine and to get my career back where it needs to be.”
Swick will take on Johnson in a three-round bout on the fight card headlined by the clash between Mauricio Rua and Brandon Vera.
The showdown, being co-headlined by non-title bout between Lyoto Machida and Ryan Bader, will be televised live from Staples Center in Los Angeles, United States.
Mike is definitely a lucky guy who despite being held back by several factors has successfully made a return to the octagon.
Also known as ‘Quick’, Swick while sharing his thoughts recalled all those moments that almost brought him at the brink of announcing retirement.
Mike portrayed the whole scenario and commented, “There were definitely dark times. That’s when you’ve got to pick yourself up and say. Do you want to give up and stop, or do you want to be positive and fight this thing out?’ I’ve always been a fighter,
so I had to pick myself up and be positive. It wasn’t easy. The easy thing to do was quit and say, ‘OK, it's not for me.’ I didn’t, and I pushed forward, and here I am fighting live on FOX.”
When asked as to how he feels after recuperating from two successive injuries, Mike commented that he feels alive and healthy.
The former UFC welterweight contender was of the view that he feels powerful and energetic like never before, adding that he has taken food and nutrients that have altogether increased his strength.
Mike will enter his career’s 19th bout, boasting 14 wins with seven coming by way of knockout. DaMarques Johnson, his Saturday night opponent, has been in a total of 26 mixed martial art bouts, boasting 16 wins with seven coming in by submission and six
by knockout.
Swick needs to grab a win over Johnson in order to seal the fact that he is in his prime form in fact never lost grip over his game in the first place.
