Mike Tindall ruled out for 12 weeks
England center and Six Nations captain, Mike Tindall has been ruled out for at least twelve weeks due to an operation on his ankle. According to Gloucester rugby, his club, Tindall went under a surgery and doctors have advised a minimum of three months rest.
He will be missing his Aviva Premiership fixtures for Gloucester this season due to the ankle ligament injury. He picked up this curse, when he filled in as a skipper for Lewis Moody in a Six Nations affair against Scotland. He even missed an important Grand
Slam game due to this injury, which England lost to Ireland.
Tindall is set t miss the Gloucester’s title-push for Aviva Premiership, while his club team currently stands at a healthy third position with few important wins so far. Gloucester has also bagged an LV cup previous week and was looking forward to wrap up
Aviva Premiership with the assistance of Tindall on a positive note.
The official statement that came out from Gloucester was, “Mike Tindall's ankle injury, suffered whilst representing his country against Scotland recently, was assessed by the Gloucester Rugby medical staff upon his return from England duty on Monday.”
The statement went on, “As a result, and following consultation with the England Rugby medical team, he underwent an examination under anesthetic yesterday performed by Mr James Calder at The Lister Hospital.”
It is confirmed that Tindall will be missing a complete season for Gloucester and as far as his international duty is concerned, it seems to be possible. England’s next match is against Wales and it is a World Cup warm up match on 6th of August. Wales will
be facing England in Cardiff. The World Cup squad for England is expected to be announced five days prior to the match and Tindall’s inclusion in the squad seems positive.
World Cup starts officially on 9th September in New Zealand and England’s first fixture is against Argentina, scheduled on September 10, 2011.
