Mike Tomlin seeks to boost Pittsburgh Steelers as James Harrison and Troy Polamalu return – NFL News
Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has sought to boost squad with possible return of linebacker James Harrison and safety Troy Polamalu in the next game, backing the Steelers to further improve from their first win of the season over the better New York
Jets’ side on past Sunday.
James has missed both initial games of the season and is yet to report hundred percent recovery from a knee procedure he had in the preseason. He was left out of the side along with Polamalu in spite of the fact that he had boasted greater chances of his
availability for the second game.
There is no official confirmation if he is going to make it to the final selection of the squad this week. As a matter of fact, the team is yet to confirm if he has returned to full practice session this week.
Coach Mike has apparently backed their return for the weekend game which certainly gives a major boost to the squad with all players already upbeat since the first win of the season.
It was an impressive show put up by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger as he finally found himself completely immersed into offensive coordinator Todd Haley’s high tempo and paced offence. Ben ripped through the weak defences of the Jets almost on every play.
While the performance provided a reason for Mike to boast his work, Haley is said to be even more pleased over the achievement of veteran Big Ben. Interestingly, Todd has maintained a complete mum over the player’s performance.
About the overall team character, Tomlin said:
"During times of adversity you get an opportunity to display your football character. We've got a bunch of high character guys and veteran guys that know the drill and understand the urgency of moments such as these."
It is important for the Steelers to maintain the winning run and extend it to more victories. The recent victory is the right platform for the Steelers to build their future success on, as hoped by the coach.
