Mike Trout feels privileged being part of MVP nomination – MLB Update
Though Mike Trout could not win this year’s Most Valuable Player Award, but still he is pleased with his nomination for 2012 Major League Baseball season’s MVP along with Detroit Tigers' Miguel Cabrera.
"His swing, Especially watching it from centerfield (while I'm) playing defense. He's fouling off pitchers' pitchers. But once you leave that one over the plate, he doesn't miss it. It's pretty cool to watch. He squares up almost everything, and when he does, he hits it a long way," Trout said as he explained about Cabrera and the way he hits the ball.
Trout added, "To be in the talk of MVP with these big guys like Cabrera -- he had the Triple Crown -- just being part of the discussion is an incredible feeling, It's hard to explain."
No doubt Mike Trout played beautifully all season long but he still he could not get the right numbers of votes he needed to win the MVP honour.
Mike Trout finished with a tremendous batting average of .326. He hit 30 home-runs and had 83 RBIs. This was itself a great achievement for 21-year old Major League professional as he finished the season with .399 OBP.
On the other hand, the Detroit Tigers' star Cabrera finished with .330 hitting average along with 44 home-runs, 139 RBIs and .393 OBP which landed him year’s American League MVP honours.
Coming onto Mike Trout and his appreciation for award winning Miguel Cabrera; it is a good gesture that he is acknowledging him on his brilliant success.
Miguel Cabrera is a big player as he has achieved almost everything what any player desires after becoming a Major League professional.
However, for Los Angeles Angels’ Mike Trout, this was a second year in the big league. He still needs grooming and if he kept his tremendous form intact, he will achieve many honours in the near future.
This was a good season for Trout as he proved his valour. Experts are already speculating in the media that the Angels' top management is considering a long term contract with Trout.
