  1. A 1988 Mike Tyson would simply be too big, too strong, and too relentless for any light heavyweight (including a prime Roy Jones, Jr.)  When its all said and done- Tyson would have knocked him out.  If you were to ask, who would have won when Jones was considering fighting Tyson after beating John Ruiz, then it would be a whole different ballgame.  If it was the Jones of the Ruiz fight and the Tyson of the Lennox Lewis fight, then I would go with Jones by lopsided decision because Tyson was extremely diminished by that time, and Jones was at the very end of his prime.

  2. Tyson

PS: Are you implying RJJ is not an ATG?

  3. Tyson, with Desiree Washington, Robyn Givens, and Don King all on his back, while wearing snowshoes and a KISS THE COOK apron.  No lightheavy beats Tyson in '88.  (Just ask Mike Spinks.)

  4. id go with tyson

  5. If Tyson landed, you have to figure it would have been like a fly getting splattered on the wind shield of your car doing 60 miles an hour down the freeway, Tyson was Tarver to the 10th power when it came to punching power, and Roy really didn't take a lot of punches in his career until the very end, so nobody realized his chin was suspect until Tarver landed that left hook.  Glen Johnson proved it wasn't a fluke, that Roy's chin was suspect.  It Tyson nailed Roy, that jaw would shatter like glass.

The problem is would Mike land, Roy was also the quickest human being I have ever seen with hand and foot speed like no other before or since.  When you consider Roy's best was Mid to late eighties, Jones would have been fading by 1998 and I think the Tyson of 88 would have got to him.

Tyson by KO, if Tarver could do it, so could Mike.

  6. Ha Ha Ha, this would not even be close, it would be a blood bath, Jones had a glass jaw and all of his speed and gimmicks would only prolong his pre ordained death, if Tarver and Johnson could Knock the c**p out of Jones.....just imagine what a Tyson punch would do

Tyson wins by sending Jones to the Intensive Care Unit in the first round (second round if Jones tries to dance around a little before his death)

  7. Tyson by default. Jones would never get into the ring with him. It is kinda like when reporters were trying to get Sugar Ray Robinson to challenge Rocky Marciano. Robinson replied, "Are you guys trying to get me killed?"

  8. easily tyson...to much power...... even if roy blocked his punches he'd still get moved.....and roys punches tyson wouldn't even be fased by em

  9. IF you're talking about Prime Tyson it's no contest.   With all his speed Roy still would not be able to avoid getting hit just a few times by prime Tyson.  Fight's over.

However,  if you are talking about Roy just after Ruiz, when they were actually talking about fighting,  I give him a good chance to pot-shot Tyson to a decision, making him look bad in the process.

  10. Mike Tyson in his prime will fight going forward applying alot of pressure like Glenn Johnson only stronger. Roy will get KO eventually.

  11. tyson in 1988 was no john ruiz, he would have finished it within 2 rounds, taking into consideration jones' speed, it would have made no difference.
