Mike Tyson: ‘Iron Mike’ is no more, I cannot handle being that guy – Boxing news
The former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, Mike Tyson, known as Iron Mike Tyson, has admitted in front of the media that his days of boxing when he was also widely known as ‘the baddest man on the planet’ are far behind him now, as the former
three-time world heavyweight champion stated his family means everything to him now.
The 45-year-old American pugilist, Tyson, who holds the record as the youngest boxer, aged 20, to win the World Boxing Council, World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation’s world heavyweight titles, showed up at the premier of his new film
‘Hangover 2’ before he made some statements.
The legendary boxer, who holds a record of winning 50 of his 58 professional fights (2 no contest), with 44 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, told the media his family now means everything to him and he does not miss the sport that made him a
star.
“I have my wife and my kids. And they like me and respect me, a little bit at least. So it can't even compare to that. It can't. Not even a little bit,” Tyson said.
However Tyson, who is famously known for biting off Evander Holyfield’s ear during their fight which was held back in 1997, left everyone flabbergasted when he called his championship belts garbage and also that he has bled from garbage.
Tyson, who is widely considered as one of the best heavyweight boxers of all time, insisted that there was a time when he had the courage to call himself ‘the baddest man on the planet’ but there is nothing like that anymore, as he believes there is nobody
like that.
“This is garbage. I can say I bled for garbage. I can't handle being that guy,” Tyson explained. “You know, that guy's a creation. 'Iron Mike,' the baddest man on the planet. There's nobody like that. People like that don't exist. I just had the audacity,
the idiocy, to say it.”
