Mike Tyson, former world heavyweight champion, believes Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. can make the super-bout happen since they are both independent fighters.
In his recent interview, Iron Mike said, “They’re two fighters, they should be able to do what they want to do. We as fans want to see them fight, but if they’re not happy, not comfortable fighting, they should be entitled to do what they want. If they don’t
fight, that’s the question mark of their era. What happened? Absolutely, I’m interested in seeing two equally competitive fighters fight. That’s going to be a great fight, not no blowout.”
Mike Tyson further said that he does not believe either one of them is ditching the other. According to him, they both are unable to come to a conclusion since they both have their egos on the line. However, he insists that they should get to an agreement
if they want their legacy to stay alive forever.
Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. are considered as pound-for-pound kings. While Manny Pacquiao holds the WBO welterweight championship, Floyd Mayweather has the WBC welterweight title. A bout between both of them is highly unlikely for now, however
camps of both the sides are trying their level best to make it happen.
Believe it or not, a fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather will be the most exciting event of the decade. If a former fighter like Tyson is so excited about it then it definitely will be an event worthwhile. No updates have been received from
either side of the possibility of the bout. Manny Pacquiao is currently scheduled to fight Timothy Bradley on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, while Mayweather is scheduled to fight Miguel Cotto on May 5 at the same venue.
Moreover, Mayweather and Pacquiao both are considering retirement. If this happens before their super-bout, it surely would be a big time disappointment for fans, since they have waited for this fight for a long time. As part of their responsibilities towards
their fans, both of them should try their level best to make the bout happen.
