why do people like mike tyson so much even though hes retarted, rapes girls, and also lost to buster douglas and they still say hes a the greatest of all time?

i think he sucks he was never really that good as people say he was.

The concept of a fearless, ferocious wild animal is quite attractive to most boxing fans.  This is what Tyson represents.

But it must be acknowledged that Iron Mike never beat a truly quality boxer.  This is what history will remember, and one of the main reasons Tyson never gets ranked in any top ten of greatest heavyweights of all time.

He was not a great fighter but he was exciting to watch because of his punching power so you don't have to sit through 12 boring rounds like you did with Chris Byrd or John Ruiz...etc..even defensive minded Wlad Klitscho vs Sultan Ibragimov was boring. Mike Tyson is exciting because either he KO his opponents or they are going to KO him, no boring decision.

I'll start by saying i am not going to condone anything mike did in the rape case. mike tyson is an intelligent individual who was addicted to drugs and alcohol, resulting in your so called "retarded behavior". he was an immaculately skilled boxer who had all the tools to become champion, but just didn't use them. he was every bit as good as people say he was, he just squandered his talents through foolish choices in his expenses and the people he chose to hang out with. He had the potential to become the greatest boxer of all time, and he wasted it, and he knows that, and would probably appreciate it if people like you would spend more time on your own lives and stop concentrating all your energy on his. no boxer who annihilated his opponents, as limited as they were early in mike's career, the way that mike did "sucks", and he should go in the hall of fame based on being the youngest heavyweight champion of all time, a two-time heavyweight champion, and the biggest draw in boxing history, even if he could of done more

Look at Tyson's record. It speaks for itself. He was an impressive and fearless fighter. He was fierce adn annihilated his opponents.

The best boxer of all time in my opinion was Muhammed Ali.
