Mike Tyson to be inducted in WWE Hall of Fame – Wrestling news
‘Iron’ Mike Tyson, the former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world and the youngest boxer to win the WBC, WBA and IBF heavyweight titles at the age of 20, will be inducted in WWE’s Hall of Fame in 2012 as announced by the authorities of WWE.
The Hall of Fame ceremony will be held on March 31, Saturday, in Miami, Florida.
Mike Tyson has made several appearances in the WWE with his latest one being against the D-Generation X (Shawn Michaels and Triple H) with Chris Jericho (Y2J) as his tag team partner. The event turned out to be a show-stopper just when Tyson changed side
and knocked out his own partner Chris Jericho with his iron fist.
However, Tyson’s most prominent WWE appearance was of 1998 when he entered WrestleMania 14 as referee of the highly anticipated match between two of the most popular WWE superstars of that time, Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold Steven Austin.
Again, Tyson concluded the match in a controversial way when he knocked out Shawn Michaels to make Austin win the World Heavyweight championship belt.
Mike Tyson is considered among the fiercest boxers of all times. He earned his nickname ‘Iron Mike’ by proving his fist power to be the strongest the boxing world has ever encountered. Tyson emerged as a boxer who could make it to the top and even leave
behind the Greatest Muhammad Ali, but as luck had it, Mike Tyson became a victim of drugs and controversies and his career was jeopardised.
However, soon after he was considered a black sheep in the boxing industry, Vince McMahon, CEO of WWE, was the person who came to his help. Tyson was introduced in the WWE as part of the D-Generation X, a notorious gang formed by the then World Heavyweight
Champion Shawn Michaels along with his cronies, Triple H and Chyna. Tyson soon gained popularity and was highly appreciated was his ring appearances.
As for his professional boxing career, Tyson made his last attempt against Lennox Lewis for the World Heavyweight championship but to no avail. He was knocked out by Lewis and since then Tyson never felt the same. He has lived his life appearing in movies,
music videos and other professional fighting forums as guest but has never been in a professional bout ever again.
