Mike Tyson v Oscar Bonavena?

both in their prime. Who wins and how?

I'd personally take Tyson in his prime (around age 20) over just about anyone except maybe Ali in his prime because Ali knew how to diffuse power punchers better than any other heavyweight ever IMO.

Before Tyson lost his heart (say about age 21 or so when he didn't bother training and lost to Buster Douglas) he hit people like he was trying to kill them, he wasn't hitting people just to score points to win a boxing match.  Few boxers in history could have stood toe to toe with Tyson's vicious power when he was young, in shape, and still somewhat mentally stable.

If you ask me who was the better fighter, I might say Bonavena, but somehow going toe-to-toe with Tyson I give him a slight edge. He intimidated opponents and won matches before they even started. I think this could be a decent fight, as Bonavena has given good matches to some of the best and was quite powerful, but i have seen very few heavyweights that could match up with the new era of bigger, stronger, faster fighters like Tyson.

Oscar Bonavena was a very strong hard punching heavyweight that gave Ali and Frazier some very hard fights.  He knocked Joe down twice in their first fight that many thought Oscar deserved to win.  He was a very awkward fighter but effective.  Mike Tyson to some was a great fighter but he never seemed to be able to beat anybody that was not afraid of him except maybe Razor Ruddock.  He has the speed advantage over Ringo but Oscar has more heart and desire.  Upset special here.  Oscar by 14th round technical knockout.

A 1987 Mike Tyson knocks out Bonavena easily in 1 or 2 rounds. No contest.

Same result with Frazier, but Joe would've gotten off and given Mike all he could handle until the end.

He basically beats everyone of that era except Ali and Foreman.
