Mike Williamson admits Liverpool striker Andy Carroll is a big loss for Newcastle United
Newcastle United's central defender, Mike Williamson has admitted that the club misses Andy Carroll and his exit has been a huge loss. But he insisted that he would love to face him at Anfield later this season.
Andy Carroll joined Liverpool on the last day of the January transfer window in a move worth 35 million pounds. The striker was signed as a replacement for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707, who left Liverpool for Chelsea.
Williamson hailed his former teammate as one of the finest strikers in England and revealed that everyone missed Carroll at Newcastle. According to Williamson, the tall striker had a lot of good friends at the club and his presence
on and off the field was amazing.
Newcastle United have been short of goals since the exit of their talented forward. The Magpies have scored 12 goals in 10 games after the striker left, with the responsibility being on the young shoulders of Leon Best and Nile
Ranger.
“I think on and off the field [Carroll has been missed], yeah. I think he's got a lot of good friends here and he was [a] big character around the place, so yeah, of course you miss him, as a friend more than anything, but I think
other players have come in and been given a chance, [and] have done themselves well,” the central defender was quoted as saying.
The former Portsmouth defender added that he is eager to play against Liverpool and former teammate Andy Carroll. The club, he said, were determined to end the season on a high and finish in the top-half of the standings table.
“I'll be very much looking forward to the Liverpool game and potentially coming up against Andy and, you know, looking forward to the rest of the season,” he concluded.
Andy Carroll scored 11 goals for his boyhood club this season before joining the Reds in January. He has scored two goals already in his six appearances in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 shirt.
The 22-year old also made his international debut in November, 2010 and scored his maiden goal for the Three Lions against Ghana in March, 2011.
