http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 midfielder, Mikel Arteta has come forth and admitted that more players need to start scoring for the North London club.
The midfielder feels that there is far too much pressure on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380’s shoulders and someone needs to start sharing it with him.
Arteta moved to Arsenal on the deadline day of the transfer window and went on to face his former side this past weekend. During the game, Arteta was back to his best and it was none other than Robin Van Persie, who scored the only goal of the game, that
helped Arsenal win the game.
Despite being happy about the win, he feels that the goal scoring duties need to be shared by the team.
Arteta himself has managed to find the back f the net on three occasions for the Gunners, while having scored two for Everton in August, prior to his move. As a result, he feels that he is doing his best to help the team out, but still feels that more players
should take the incentive and start having a pop at goal every now and then.
Arteta is quoted to have said: "I have scored five goals this season already, if you count my two for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 in August, so I don't think things are going badly"
"If I can add to that then it can only help the team.”
The player then admitted that he used to be good at scoring goals and wants to start doing that once again.
"We need to make sure people other than Robin are scoring for us, after all! I used to be quite good at that!”
The Spanish midfielder then ended by claiming Arsenal’s style of play forces defenders to leave massive holes in front of their goal and it is up to him and the rest of the team to try and bury their shots in from range.
"I need to keep trying these things - sometimes we get space to move into when the forward players have attracted defenders to them, and we need to stay aware of that.
"We have players to score from that range and I was glad to do my bit."
Arteta exposed this gap against Wigan Athletic, as he sent in a twenty five yard shot into the back of the net in the game.
However, with the quality that the team possesses and with the way the squad has come together, it is only a matter of time before everyone starts following the midfielders advice.
