Chelsea’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Obi-Mikel-c18882 has insisted that the Blues are on the right course, despite having lost their second consecutive pre season friendly.
The London based club went on to lose to AC Milan, following their lost to the MLS All-Star team.
Despite the team losing both their games, Mikel feels that the club has actually moved forward, irrelevant of what the results might say.
The holding midfielder also believes that the team is now in the ideal position to continue to build on last season’s success, especially after the team went on to make a number of new signings over the course of the summer transfer window.
Mikel also thinks the team might be able to kick the season off with a win over Manchester City in the upcoming community shield match.
“I feel good, I think it was a good game for us,” the 25-year-old told Chelsea’s
official website after his first full run-out of pre-season.
“It was not the result we would have wanted but there are positives we can take and try to build on it.”
“We didn't create many chances, but there were opportunities and maybe we were just one pass or one run short, so we are getting closer to how we want to be, and if we can keep doing what we are doing we will start to open teams up and improve our play.”
“It is still pre-season and we have time to work on a few things before we get to the competitive games.”
He then went on to thank the fans who supported the team over their American tour, but stated that the team was now eager to get back to London and continue working over there.
Having won the Champions League last season, the team will now have to step up and give the fans something to cheer about this season.
The only way they can do so, is if they try and achieve some success in the league. Building on last season’s sixth place finish isn’t going to be an easy task for the team, but with their new signings, the team might actually be able to do just that.
