The Nigerian midfielder has recently revealed that it was his mind tricks which helped Chelsea win the UEFA Champions League as Robben missed his penalty against the Blues in the extra-time period at the Allianz Arena
Obi Mikel, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521 which made him miss Bayern Munich’s crucial penalty in extra-time against the Blues.
Chelsea were totally dominated by Bayern in the UEFA Champions League final but the Blues held on till the end to take the match to a penalty shootout. Bayern Munich opened the scoring in the last ten minutes of the UEFA Champions
League final through Thomas Muller’s header but Chelsea equalized shortly after via a thumping http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 header.
In extra time disaster struck for the Blues as Drogba’s clumsy challenge on Robben prompted the referee to award a penalty kick to the German giants. It was Robben who stepped up to take the penalty kick but failed to convert the
chance which would’ve given Bayern the lead as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petr-Cech-c29837 dove the right way and saved the shot.  Obi Mikel has now revealed that he spoke to Robben just before he stepped up to take the penalty kick and told him that Petr already knew where the Dutchman was
going to kick the ball.
Mikel said, "I told him: 'Petr Cech knows where you are going to kick it. I just told Robben that he is going to miss it. You know, we just do that sometimes as players. I think when the penalty was missed; we kind of believed
that this trophy was going to be ours."
He added, "We have shown what we can do. And, hopefully, people can stop writing us off. When he took over, he had a word with me and said he knows how good I am, I am just maybe lacking a bit of confidence. And he gave it back
to me.”
Chelsea became the first London club to win the UEFA Champions League with their triumph over Bayern Munich but it remains to be seen whether they will become the first club in the history of the tournament to defend its title
successfully next season.
