Mikhail Youzhny beats Julian Reister; moves into quarterfinals – German Tennis Championships 2011
Bet-at-home Open in Hamburg started off with its third match of the 3rdround at the centre clay court on Thursday as Mikhail Youzhny played local favourite Julian Reister. Meeting for the first time, both players were unsure of who had the advantage on the Rothenbaum Tennis Court. 
Mikhail Youzhny has been a tough gun in the past few tournaments. He has covered grass and clay courts with perfection. The 27-year-old has certainly made his mark by beating several top class players. Currently at World No.17, Mikhail has a career high rank at No.8 in ATP rankings.
On the other hand, the German world No.155 is a right handed tennis professional since 2005. The 25-year-old has been a fighter for a long time but luck took him to the third round only to leave him there unattended against the mighty Youzhny.
Starting off the match, the Russian, Youzhny served to open the game and the score card. Dominating from the start, the Russian grizzly had his claws on his prey. He snatched the game winning a breakpoint to lead 2-0 and further making it 3-0 in the next. The German won a breather but he was once again choked by the World No.17 as he lost the set 3-6 to the Russian.  
The second set started with a breakpoint and also ended with a breakpoint for the Russian sensation. Leading the set in the start with 2 games to 0, Mikhail had a clear win. The 29 year-old played extravagant forehands and was marvellous with his offence. Although the German had more aces in his stats but Youzhny had the best overall that led him to win the match 6-3, 6-3.
Totalling 71 points, the Russian secured 39 service points and 32 returners. Mikhail had a greater percentage of hi first and second serve winners as well. Last but not the least, the world No.17 had 3 breakpoint wins in the match out of 7, 4 were saved.
Breaking the German bone, the Russian is now waiting to conquer his next prey in the quarter-final round of the German Tennis Championship 2011.
