Mikhail Zimin pockets Men’s 100m breaststroke gold – 2012 Paralympic Games
Victoria Arlen of USA earned gold medal of the Men’s 100m breaststroke in SB12 category on final day of the swimming events at the 2012 London Paralympic Games in Aquatics Centre on Saturday, September 8.
Zimin spoiled the party of his opponents in the two-lap breaststroke discipline as he rushed his way towards the finishing blockade for the title.
He faced strong contest from Uladzimir Izotau of Belarus but with his alluring efforts, Zimin managed to secure the title. The Russian swimmer remained just a stroke ahead of his following swimmer and captured gold medal of the event in an improved world
record time of 1 minute and 07.05 seconds.
The gold medallist was trailed by Izotau, who remained 0.23 seconds behind and secured silver medal of the race by reporting a time of 1 minute and 07.28 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Maksym Veraksa of Ukraine, who was 0.51 seconds apart and stepped on the victory stand for bronze medal by submitting a time of 1 minute and 07.79 seconds.
Veraksa was chased by Sergii Klippert of Ukraine, who remained nearly three seconds behind and settled on the finishing blockade as fourth fastest swimmer by reporting a time of 1 minute and 10.75 seconds.
Klippert was chased by Oleg Tkalienko of Ukraine, who remained only 0.25 seconds behind and appeared on the finishing blockade as fifth best finisher by touching the wall with a timing of 1 minute and 11.00 seconds.
Sixth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Enrique Floriano of Spain, who suffered a deficit of 0.42 seconds from his foregoing finisher and reached the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 11.42 seconds.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by Daniel Correa Giraldo of Colombia, who stayed 0.29 seconds slower and finished seventh in the event with a timing of 1 minute and 11.71 seconds.
Giraldo was chased by Ignacio Gonzalez of Argentina, who was unable to upset any of his competitors and clocked a time of 1 minute and 12.96 seconds.
Furthermore, Zimin expressed happiness over his victory after the event.
