Miki Kamemori dominates Girls 200m backstroke prelims – 2012 NCSA/Itoman Allstar Meet
Miki Kamemori of Itoman dominated the qualifying rounds of the Girls 200m backstroke on third day of the 2012 NCSA/Itoman Allstar Meet at the Golden West Swim Club in Golden West College on Sunday, September 23.
Kamemori, who finished third in the 100m backstroke final, went full rampant in the distant backstroke discipline and qualified into the playoff as top contender for gold medal.
With her invincible efforts, Kamemori remained just a touch ahead of her following swimmer and entered the final round by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 17.23 seconds.
Her fastest qualification effort was trailed by her teammate, Yukiko Watanabe, who remained only 0.04 seconds slower from her over the finishing end and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 17.27 seconds for second position.
Watanabe was followed by Mayu Kimoto of Itoman, who stayed 1.27 seconds away from her former finisher and qualified into the playoff by touching the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 18.54 seconds.
Fourth best qualification spot of the event was obtained by Lisa N Bratton of NCSA, who stayed two body lengths behind and posted a time of 2 minutes and 20.46 seconds.
Bratton was traced by Janet Y Hu of NCSA, who stayed 0.38 seconds away from upsetting her preceding swimmer and tapped the wall for fifth spot with a timing of 2 minutes and 20.84 seconds.
Sixth finest spot of the event was obtained by Megan E Byrnes of NCSA, who stayed 1.05 seconds apart and hit the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 21.89 seconds.
Byrnes was chased by Aya Watanabe of Itoman, who was 0.09 seconds behind and made her way into the final by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 21.98 seconds.
Eighth qualifying position of the race was obtained by Jessica R Short of NCSA, who remained two and a half body length away from her former finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 24.29 seconds.
In addition, Kamemori was contented with her top qualifying effort and said that she would try hard to do the same in playoff.
