Miki Uchida claims Women’s 50m freestyle gold: Day three – 2012 Japan Open, Tokyo
Miki Uchida claimed gold medal of the Women’s 50m freestyle on third day of the 2012 Japan Open in Tokyo on Sunday, May 27.
Uchida went full rampant in the single lap freestyle discipline and shattered hopes of her competitors by snaring gold medal of the event.
With her immaculate efforts, she managed to outperform her strongest rival over the finishing wall for gold medal by clocking a time of 25.33 seconds.
The champion was followed by Haruka Ueda, who stayed 0.09 seconds apart and tapped the finishing blockade for silver medal of the event by submitting a time of 25.42 seconds.
Ueda was trailed by Yayoi Matsumoto, who stayed 0.03 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and tapped the wall with the timing of 25.45 seconds for bronze medal.
Fourth spot of the discipline was secured by Hanae Itou, who stayed 0.31 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing end by submitting a time of 25.76 seconds.
Itou was trailed by Chiaki Shimonaka, who stayed 0.08 seconds apart and proved her eligibility for fifth position of the discipline by reporting a time of 25.84 seconds.
In the meantime, Shinri Shioura proved his supremacy in the Men’s equivalent event. Shioura served notice of his talent and occupied gold medal of the event with the timing of 22.28 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Kenta Ito, who was only 0.19 seconds slower and hit the finishing blockade with an effort of 22.47 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Makoto Itou, who was 0.44 seconds slower from securing silver medal of the discipline by reporting a time of 22.91 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Katsumi Nakamura, who suffered a deficit of 0.03 seconds and settled on the finishing blockade for fourth position by clocking a time of 22.94 seconds.
Fifth position of the discipline was obtained by Yuuki Kawachi, who was 0.21 seconds apart and posted a time of 23.15 seconds.
Furthermore, the championship ended after the conclusion of all planned events while the position holders received awards and accolades for their notable efforts at the medal ceremony of the championship.
