Mikkayla Sheridan desires more gold medals in the Australian Age Championships – Swimming Update
After winning five consecutive gold medals in the 2011 Australian Age Championships, Mikkayla Sheridan of Queensland, is still determined to clinch two more gold medals in the Women’s 100m fly and 200m Individual Medley finals, in the championship held at
the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre, Adelaide.
Sheridan had won the bronze medal in the Women’s 200m, back in the 2011 Australian Championships in Sydney, earlier this month.
In the Women’s 100m butterfly semi-final, Sheridan won with a sensational time of 1:01.61. Samantha Wilkins of Victoria settled second in 1:03.01, while Emma Niere of Firbank Aquastars finished third in a time of 1:03.11.
The Queensland swimmer won the Women’s 200m IM semis with a sterling time of 2:18.12. Kotuku Ngawati finished second in 2:19.46 and Samantha Wilkins captured the third place with a time of 2:19.46.
Zac Whenuaroa grabbed the Boy’s 16-yrs 100m butterfly semi-final with a fabulous time of 56.04, while Hugo Morris retained the second spot in a time of 54.92. Whenuaroa was enormously pleased with his performance in the semi-finals.
Jared Gilliland of Queensland wound up first in the Boy’s 16yrs 200m IM, with a stunning time of 2:09.21. Sho Nishimotto was placed second with a time of 2:10.52, while Ryan h**e finished third in 2:10.56.
In the Girl’s 17-18yrs 200m backstroke meet, Jordan White of Cranbrook Eastern Edge clinched the first spot with a genuine time of 2:16.25.Aisling Scott of Queensland wound up second in 2:18.69 and Whitney Ireland of South Australia settled third with a
distinctive time of 2:18.70.
On the other hand, the Boy’s 17-18yrs 200m back event was captured by Matson Lawson, with a sterling time of 2:03.81. Joshua Beaver took the second place in 2:05.98, while Nicholas Honey of Brothers wound up third with a matchless time of 2:06.73.
In the Girl’s 14yrs 100m backstroke meet, Andrew Jarvis of Wyndham picked up the first spot in 1:01.46. Sebastian Cumins was placed second with a distinctive time of 1:01.97 and Edward Marks settled third at 1:02.20.
Rebecca Booth of Abostsleigh picked up the Boy’s 14yrs 100m back event with a remarkable time of 1:05.01. Lauren Rettie grabbed the second place at 1:05.19 and Naomi Smit of New Zealand, finished at the third spot in a time of 1:05.37.
Fans have high expectations from Sheridan, who is eyeing the 100m fly and the 200m IM finals gold, to add to her tally of five wins already in the meet. Considering the form she is in, the probability of the Queensland swimmer snatching two more gold medals,
is still on the cards.
