Milan Jovanovic admits joining Liverpool was a mistake – Barclays Premier League news
Liverpool midfielder, Milan Jovanovic, has admitted that he made a mistake by joining the Reds from Standard Liege. He regrets the move and revealed that there were a number of clubs after him but he chose to come to Anfield.
Jovanovic joined Liverpool in the summer of 2010 on a free transfer from Belgian side Standard Liege. The Serbian was signed by then Reds manager, Rafael Benitez, and made his debut against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FK-Rabotnicki-c39326 in the UEFA Europa League.
The winger claimed that he would have been better off if he had made a move to the German Bundesliga or the Italian Serie A as his style of play better suits those countries. He revealed that Liverpool is a very different place for him than Liege in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850.
The Serb admitted that he has not settled in the city and could be on the move in the summer.
"If I would move to Italy or http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Serbia-c3002 and my life was different, more dynamic. Liverpool is such a different place. I'm here alone,
without anybody. I'm just a very lonely stranger,” the winger was quoted as saying.
The Serbian international added that the only regret he has is that Rafael Benitez left the club before he arrived at Anfield. The midfielder stated that the Spaniard’s presence would have made him a much better player and the performances would have been
totally different.
"Liverpool is a club which you can't refuse; my only regret is that the coach who brought me to Anfield left the club before my arrival. If Benitez would have stayed at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 I believe everything would be different for me. There were 15 other clubs which
followed me but I chose Liverpool and made a mistake,” the Serb concluded.
Jovanovic has made only 18 appearances for the Merseyside giants this season and has scored two goals in the process. The performances have been below par and a move away from Anfield is highly likely in the upcoming summer transfer window.
