Milan Piperski hospitalises Dragomir Totev after brutal fifth-round knockout win – Boxing News
Milan Piperski, the surging Serbian light middleweight, collected an impressive rather intimidating fifth round knockout win over the Bulgarian Dragomir Totev to grab the vacant WBC CIS and Slovenian Boxing Bureau (CISBB) light middleweight gold, in a 12-round
battle held on April 7, 2012.
The ring for the bout was stretched at Zajecar, Serbia and the pay-per-view was promoted by Darko Popivoda of Balkan Boxing. The above duo headlined the event and the four-round light heavyweight bout between Zvjezdan Vidakovic and Merdjidin Yuseinova co-headlined
the night.
Milan, 30 was entering in his career’s seventh bout and boasted a six-bout long win streak. He has never lost even a single bout and nailed two of his opponents via knockout.
This was the first time that both men were entering in a 12-round bout. Also known as ‘The Piper’, Milan’s opponent for the night, Dragomir, was slightly more experienced.
The Bulgarian proud has been in a total eight bouts and was able to pin just four opponents. In addition he has never collected even a single win via knockout. With a resume tarnished by four losses and exhibiting nil knockout ability along with the disadvantage
of brawling in front of his opponent’s home crowd, all these aspects sealed the fact that Dragomir is bound to lose the bout.
But nobody knew that Milan’s victory will come in such a brutal manner that Dragomir will receive a concussion in the head. The bout started and from the very first round both pugilists attacked each other with powerful jabs.
The duo did not back off at all and kept on pummelling without any break targeting the head and body while penetrating each other’s defences. Dragomir, who already had too much odds against him, really put forth the Serbian fans a strenuous and hard-to-break
defence.
But Milan who possessed a heavy duty jab flattened Dragomir four times while targeting his head. In the fifth round, after the passage of two minutes and 59 second, Milan threw a decisive huge fist that connected Dragomir’s head eventually making him go
down on the ring floor.
The referee started the 10-count but this time Totev was out seriously. The Bulgarian was immediately taken to the nearest hospital where he was diagnosed with a concussion in the head.
Later on, after the bout the proud winner Milan while sharing his thoughts said, “I’m sorry Totev. I heard that he was drove to the hospital Zaječarski and diagnosed a concussion. Totev, every time he got up argued that it can continue. In reality it was
a match earlier terminated, but it is the judge. He is an awkward fighter, tough, but I managed to throw it down with my favorite shot, stitch right in the body.”
No further updates are available on Totev’s current medical situation. Milan, on the other hand, has now become a champion and has strengthened his streak with seven wins whereas this was Totev’s fifth career loss.
