The head coach of Milan has gone on to state that the presence of the Italian between the sticks was what got them through in the win over Zenit St Petersburg.
The former Cagliari manager lauded his players after their away win in the UEFA Champions League; the Rossoneri outfit were away to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 in their second match of their group stages. Milan were going to the match into the match against Zenit St Petersburg,
after breaking the jinx of not having won any of their home matches from the start of the season, with the win over Cagliari.
It was going to be a tricky start, given the pressure that was mounting on the club and their players following their indifferent start to the season. The Rossoneri outfit were the relative underdogs, going into the match, following the mass exodus of many
of their experienced stars. Zenit have been strong contenders in their domestic league and are known to be a formidable outfit.
Massimiliano Allegri went on to state that he knew that it was going to be a difficult against Zenit and he also remarked that they knew that it was going to take something special for them to secure a victory away in Russia.
However, despite his worries, Milan had a bright start to the match and was by far the better side in the first half. Allegri echoed these sentiments, but mentioned that after the Russian outfit made the appropriate changes, it made life difficult for the
club.
Despite the difficulties, Allegri praised his team and mentioned that it was all credit to the players for being positive and always looking for the win. He went on to remark:
“It’s an important victory, but I am convinced this group will only be decided at the very end. The first half was very good, then Zenit made some tactical adjustments and didn’t really let us play anymore. I have to praise the lads, as we kept looking for
the win throughout the match.”
AC Milan were victorious in the match, after Abate scored with the winning strike to make the score line 3-2.
