  1. Why do you want to go in Milan?

Take a flight to Rome from London!! If you go with Ryanair it's cheaper!! ...also Rome is cheaper than Milan!

  2. Go by plane to Milan and from there catch a train to Rome and then catch a flight back to London.

  3. you can go to rome from milan with train...or airplane...

the train is take about 4 hours and the airplane is take only one hour...

  4. if you want to see milan, that's the right period becuase the city is quite calm in august, but it still offers lots of attractions. then, if you 've got time, you can plan a beautiful trip from milan to rome by train or bus and discover interesting places. for example there are wonderful towns on your way, Parma, Bologna, than you can go down to Toscana: in the middle there are hills and amazing places where to go and stay for a night and eat eat eat!! on the coast there are beutiful seatowns: Forte dei Marmi, Viareggio... beautiful places such as Argentario zone... Rome is not so far from Milan. If you want to, you can reach it in 4 hours, but if you want to see more, plan at least a 5 days trip.

    Enjoy!

  5. If you have a few days to travel in Italy...Here is my reccomendation...

    1st..Get the Italy train pass.

The 2nd. thing I reccommend is...get ready to walk...and I mean WALK...it's the best way to know Italy. So prepare yourself by walking about 45 min a day before your trip.

I would advice you to stay one day in Milan and 3 or 4 in Venice.

We recently went there and I think one day was more than enough to discover Milan. I would recommend to visit the cathedral, climb to the top of it, the castle, Castello Sforzesco, the shopping district, a couple of museums and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, and if you are lucky to get tickets to see the "Last Supper" at Santa Maria delle Grazie, Milan.

Venice is such a magical city that less than 3 days would not be enough to experience it.

Also if you stay there 4 days..I would strongly recommend you to visit the islands of Murano, Burano, Lido and Torcello. They are close to Venice, but they take about 1:15 min to reach there in the Vaporettos.

    In Venice visit:

    Piazza San Marco.

    San Marco Cathedral.

    Campo San Polo

    The Ducal palace

    The Rialto Bridge,

    The Peggy Guggenheim Collection

Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute

    Ca' d'Oro

And finally walk a lot on those small streets...you'll love it

Be sure you stay in Mestre to avoid paying too much for a hotel.

Then you should go south to Florence, spend a couple of days there

And finally go to Rome for another 3 days..

In Rome..This is what you should do:

    Day 1. The Vatican

Day 2. The Coliseum, the Forum and a couple of churches

Day 3. A museum (your choice) and a good lunch..Afternoon..The Pantheon and the Piaza Navona

Day 4. Walk...Go shopping and relax in a plaza, a good dinner..after that go the Fontana di Trevi, specially if you are with someone you love. Throw your coin in...so you'll be back some day.

Day 5. Wake up before dawn...Walk to a high point...The Monument of Victor Manuel...and see sun come out. A good breakfast, another museum..Walk some more and take a lot of pictures...

Finally I would recommend you to stay at the YMCA...is safe...and cheap and breakfast is included. But I would have to say it's not a romantic place to stay in...is quite basic.

Also get the "Lonely Planet" Italy guide...it has good tips and maps...

  6. rome from milan is not too far in train, if u take the fastest is just 4 hours or sth like that. just do not do the mistake of taking alitalia flights. they are always late and very expensive!
